Introducing Favorite Food Friday, Each Friday I will introduce a food you may know and already love, or maybe it will be something fresh and new you can add to your kitchen, and it will be a healthy one

Sprouted Quinoa
Pronounced keen-wa. It is becoming very popular.
Quinoa is a complete protein full of amino acids. It is very hearty and strengthening. It can survive at very high altitudes and is very smart. Yes, given what it needs to grow it flourishes, when it does not have the enough water or weather it will stop growing and will stay alive until given what it needs to finish growing. It is gluten free and very easy to digest.
When cooking Quinoa you will need to soak it to “clean” it and remove the outer layer called saponin. This is removed before packaging but it is still recommended to soak. It is very easy to cook

Dry Quinoa
1 c Quinoa
2c water.
Seasonings.
It can be made in a large patch and used for any meal.
I like to sprout it. You will soak it for 4-5 hrs and let it sprout for a day. I eat it by itself w sea salt or put it on a sandwich.
So next time you are tired of brown rice and want a whole grain that strengthens the kidneys hearts and lungs try Quinoa you will love it!

I want you to tell me more about sprouting….
