Whats Up with Gluten?

look for this label when searching for products

Do you ever eat pasta, bread or cereal and feel instantly bloated and awful? Do you wander why or think it is just cause you are full?  Well it is probably because you have a gluten sensitivity or possibly Celiac Disease.  Going gluten free is now easier but why and how?

Gluten is the protein found in certain grains. When our gut is not functioning properly this protein is not digested and it begins to cause serious problems for our digestion, immune system and other parts of our body including our thyroid. In cases of the thyroid, when the protein is present it mimics the surface and certain aspects of your thyroid (in a sense) and can attack the thyroid as it would the gluten protein. It is essential when repairing the thyroid to avoid gluten at all or as much as possible.

Repairing the Body along with the gut and digestion you must begin with your nutrition. If the foundation of your body is not getting the proper food, it will not absorb supplementation correctly and it will be harder for your hormones to balance (men and women) and you will be constantly working against your poor diet. Most of your immune system is housed around your intestines and if it is compromised it is compromising your immune system.

So what are gluten free grains?  Glad you asked…

  • quinoa
  • rice
  • amaranth
  • millet
  • corn
  • potatoes
  • buckwheat
  • beans
  • nuts and nut butters
  • eggs
  • fresh fruit
  • fresh veggies
  • herbs and spices
  • meat and fish w/o seasoning
  • 100% all natural juice
  • Oats (read below)

It is important if you are very sensitive to gluten that you avoid gluten containing foods touching non gluten foods cross contamination is very easy, This happens often with oats so make sure it says gluten free on the container of oats.  This means separate shelves, a different toaster, replace wooden spoons that would have been used for gluten foods.

Many grocery stores have gluten free sections where you can buy bread, waffles, cookies etc. I do find these items costly so learning how to make some of your favorites with gluten free flours can save you a lot of money.  You can also google and many many bloggers and websites have great recipes for gluten free eating.

As I have also said before it is good when starting any new lifestyle change or just wanting to feel better a good cleanse can make the process a whole lot easier. This can be done through a series of colon hydrotherapy sessions or at home enemas. Getting what has been stored as waste in your body for a long time can relieve a HUGE toxic burden on your system and aid in recovery happening so much faster!

Honestly, I didn’t know gluten is somewhat harmful to our body in some other way. Actually, in my house we even promote people to eat vegetables rich with gluten. Anyway, thanks a lot for the great share.

you are welcome. I think as with anything the state of your body determines how your body will handle certain foods etc…
